WONDERFUL STAY! Chelsea is extremely responsive & accommodating. The home was exactly as pictured. If you’re staying with children, this home is family friendly in every way, we loved it! Every amenity you can think of is provided. Even the toiletries we purchased for our trip were never used because the home had everything we needed. All you need to bring if you stay here are your clothes, literally. Toiletries, a blow dryer, throw blankets, kitchen items (cookware, bakeware, coffee, pantry items, condiments, etc) laundry soap, bbq utensils, board games even usb ports and chargers throughout the home were provided. There was also a bidet in the master bathroom. The outdoor space was amazing! I can’t say enough great things about this home. The location is perfect as it’s close to the village, grocery stores, the lake and the only Starbucks in town. If you’re a family looking for a getaway to Big Bear Lake, this is the perfect place. We were even greeted with a bottle of Chardonnay upon check-in. Need I say more?
Wow! What an incredibly nurturing and loving home. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by a bottle of wine, to the ease of the check-out process, the whole experience at Chalet Marmot is stellar.
You can tell that the owners really love their home. So many air Bnbs these days feel like a business, but Chalet Marmot is a true home. We didn’t want to leave!
The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is very well stocked, and the game room is the best!! I don’t know that I’ll ever stay anywhere else in big bear.

Do. Not. Pass. This. Place. Up. When I tell you I have yet to be THIS relaxed at an AIRBNB I mean it. The shear amount of space for family and friends is glorious and creative. The bunk room is so fun and I can only imagine trying to get the kids to leave it! It has a rock wall and hidey hole for crying out loud. The furnishings are beyond comfortable and there are plenty of secondary heat sources besides the ventilation system if you are worried about those cold winter nights. We used the fireplace and outside fire pits (yes plural) nights! Having three full bathrooms with excellent water pressure and toiletries made group prep time a breeze. There is even a bidet in the master that does everything but massage your bum… the garage has been converted in to a game room with every board game under the sun, a pool/ping pong tables and arcade council. The exterior spaces are what truly got me stoked on the property. With three deck spaces, plenty of seating, a monster grill, brand new hot-tub for 8 and swing sets you truly don’t need to leave. This quiet escape just minutes away from the ski resort truly has stolen my heart and I can’t wait to come back.

This Is Our Story
Pat and Kelly O’Horo are excited to share their beautiful unique home, Chalet Marmot, with you and your family! As parents to five sons, and now with two daughters’ in-law plus five grandchildren, they have learned how to tend to and accommodate many people; they have huge hearts for creating amazing experiences to host those they love.
The name Chalet Marmot is special and intentional. Kelly was raised in Big Bear and attended and volunteered at the YMCA Camp Big Bear in Boulder Bay for over 30 years where she worked her way through the Rag Program and is a white ragger. Her camp nickname is “Squirrel.” The Marmot, the largest squirrel is known for it’s warm, loving, and hospitable nature. It’s considered a friend to all in the forest.
Special thought and attention were paid as they planned for, purchased, and renovated this gorgeous space! They wanted something spacious enough to accommodate a large family or two smaller families, while recognizing that while on vacation, people like to do different things!
As a busy trauma therapist who manages a group EMDR Therapy practice in Arizona, Kelly wanted a space that screams tranquility and luxury. The master retreat does just that! With the crystal chandelier illuminating the vaulted wood ceilings and the pink velour love seat capping off the bed, nestled near a cozy fireplace and seating area, this makes the perfect space for quiet conversation, reading a favorite book, or just simply enjoying a cup of coffee while gazing into the forest.
The Master Retreat also offers a perfect workspace for remote work needs.
As parents and grandparents, they wanted a space that was big enough to hang out and play pool or ping pong, watch a movie, play games, or to simply snuggle with a loved one in their giant couch (dubbed the “cuddle puddle”), in front of the fireplace. All these wonderful things can be found in the large game room.
Our bunk room is inspired by the “summer camp vibe” and will accommodate 8 people in 6 beds (4 twins and 2 queens). Equipped with a meditation corner, a kids club house, and a rock-climbing wall, kids big and small will have a ball in the bunk room!
The main living room and kitchen great room layout is an awesome place to cook and connect in luxury with beautiful cathedral ceilings including timber frame and beams, exquisite lighting, and a cozy fireplace to nestle up to with a comfy throw blanket!
The absolute hallmarks of Chalet Marmot are the large decks in both the front and back yards. They provide ample space to dine, visit, and drink in the most beautiful forest expanse on three sides of the property. If that doesn’t do it for you, sitting by one of the two fire pits or soaking in the brand new jacuzzi is sure to give you just what you’re hoping for while on your mountain getaway at Chalet Marmot, Big Bear Lake!
